Somewhere Inside by Laura Ling & Lisa Ling

Recommended: Yes!

I can honestly say, I vaguely followed the whole situation as it unfolded last year, but for some reason, when I saw this book was coming to my local library, I immediately placed my reservation hold on it.

Maybe, it was because of my political science degree or my own connection I have with my sister that I wanted to read this book. Perhaps, both. I had no idea Laura and Lisa were from Northern California. In fact, they grew up, in the same city my great-grandma lived in.

It is an engaging, funny, witty and an eye-opening book. So little is known about the North Korean government that I was really excited to get an insider's point of view, nonetheless, a prisoner being held by their government. The book has made me emotional at times, for I could not imagine what I would do if it were my own sister in Laura's place.

This book has been out for quite sometime and I remember seeing these cute books at Target, but never actually had the urge to splurge to buy the book and read it. So, being the avid People.com reader that I am, when I saw pictures of Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin on the set of "Something Borrowed", I was intrigued. I scurried on over to my local library and picked this book along with its follow-up Something Blue.

Needless to say, I read the book cover to cover in one night! ha! Not since the Twilight series, did I skip exercising, skip watching TV, and talking to my husband! It was sooo good! I brought it to work and had to share it with my co-worker! Many of us can relate to the friendship of Darcy and Rachel in our own lives. We are either them or know someone like them. If you haven't read this book, you must!
